Kips Bay Showhouse - Doniphan Moore
We were thrilled when Dallas designer Doniphan Moore called us and asked if we would provide hardware for of his Kips Bay show house design. Little did we know the vision in his head would be the stuff that dreams are made of!
Doniphan was assigned a 1200 square foot octagon that branched off into His and Hers closets, which he designed to include a coffee bar and luxury bath. Doniphan's vision for this Master bath and dressing room, was to create a space where “intimate moments can be savored.” Now more than ever creating a space that allowed a homeowner to calm the mind and spirit was in the forefront of his mind. Moore believed the process of getting dressed or taking a moonlit bath should be soothing rituals for everyone. He used luxurious materials to accomplish this look, including the de Gournay wallpaper inspired by the work of Gustav Klimt as well as Japanese textile designs.
“Metallics and jewel tones bring continuity to the space.”
“Because of its shape, I thought it would be cool to have the space be a menagerie of falling branches inspired by several de Gournay wallpaper designs,” Moore says. “It’s really enveloping, with several layers that tell the story of who I am while still being cohesive.” He worked closely with the brand to show a different side of de Gournay that is a bit more modern but still rooted in classicism. The de Gournay wallpaper is inspired by the work of Gustav Klimt as well as Japanese textile designs.
Custom Closets with Addison Weeks Hardware
The Container Store provided the built in custom cabinets for the uniquely shaped space. They installed the closets from the Laren collection for both his and her closets. His closet features a masculine ebony finish, while hers has a lighter Aspen finish. The Container Store worked with Doniphan to make sure the height was right. Doniphan knew it was really important for the space to feel grand and spacious. The Container Store also provided LED lighting which makes it shine. Doniphan asked Addison Weeks to provide hardware to finish off his high end look. We provided several different luxury brass and gemstone pieces which complimented the gorgeous hand painted wall paper and natural stone marble stonework throughout the room.
The daily routine is elevated with sophistication and nuanced small luxuries that bring comfort and a sense of sanctuary to the home.
