Designer Prudence Bailey of Prudence Home & Design masterfully blends vibrant colors with a touch of elegance in this stunning home renovation. The designer transformed this home with a complete kitchen renovation, a newly designed butler's pantry, renovated bathrooms, and updated interiors. The preppy chic style takes center stage, infusing the interiors with a perfect balance of playfulness and sophistication.
A: This was such a fun project, as my client loves color and wanted to go bold while being fun and elegant at the same time. We did a massive renovation in their home, including a renovation of all bathrooms, a complete kitchen renovation, and the addition of a butler's pantry, mudroom renovation, and interior design across most rooms in the house. I worked closely with them to understand how they live, what they love, and what's most important to them in order to design a home that tells everyone who walks through their doors who lives there.

A: Our design process entails a phased approach from client discovery to design concept to complete detailed design and budget presentation. This helps us understand who they are, what they want, how they live, and if my initial concepts are on track as we enter into full design. Once a design is approved, we gather the investment across all goods and services and present an all-in financial investment. The only challenge was that it was far away, so traveling there took planning, and once onsite, we had to be very efficient since we could not go every day.
A: The design represents my client, is comfortable and livable, and will last for years to come.Â
A:  I describe this kitchen as preppy chic. I love the paint color for the perimeter cabinets. Most people paint the island a bold color but I wanted to do the opposite. My client really trusted me, and it shows in the design!
A: I just knew this collection was right for this design. I love the look of the Cosmos Pull and the weight of it. We needed something strong since this is a big and bold kitchen so the hardware needed to stand up to that or I believe it would fall short.Â
A: That is so hard to answer as I love them all! The hardware by Modern Matter, the paint colors, the Onyx of France tile, the gorgeous custom Lilac pendant by Dunes and Duchess, the LaCanche Range, and the TV and the desk area is so chic. We made a fabric pin cushion and put an Urban Electric sconce into it in a custom color for a fun color pop.
A: Hardware is the jewelry in the kitchen. So many people think the hardware isn't essential, but I think it can make or break the design. I always include the hardware in the overall design from the onset. It's an important element and should be a part of the total design concept. If you don't do that and wait until the end when you feel tight on funds, it will look like you ran out of money once completed if you use basic hardware. The hardware must complete the design and support all the players, making up a gorgeous kitchen or bathroom!
A: Think long-term. A kitchen is a big undertaking, so you want to buy the best you can afford; in other words, cry once! Buy what you love, think through the functionality as well as what is important to you aesthetically. Do not follow trends as they come and go, rather follow your heart.
