Dorothy Shain Henderson is the Founder and Creative Director of Dorothy Shain Fine Art & Design. She is a Greenville, South Carolina-based contemporary artist and entrepreneur creating work that celebrates travel, exploration and experiences. Her business specializes in connecting a discerning and high-end clientele, with original arts, prints, textiles, wallpapers and products. We caught up with her for a little inspiration.
Q: Painting looks both fun and therapeutic. Aside from painting, how else do you keep your creative spirit fulfilled?
A: You are right! Painting is so much fun and therapeutic but because it is my job, it is so crucial for me to fill my creative cup in different ways outside of the studio so I don't get burned out. Being outside, reading, quiet time, and cooking are huge sources of inspiration for me that can ultimately end of influencing my work in different ways.
Q: What influences your approach to new wallpaper and textile designs?
Studying past textile designers and artists! Alexander Girard & Annie Albers are the two who first came to mind.

Dorothy used the Dogwood knobs in polished brass with moonstone on the custom vanity.
Q: Which room at home is your favorite and why?
​My bathroom!!! From the dogwood handles on the vanity to the bright red tub to my grasscloth zinnias wallpaper. I never knew a tiny room could spark so much joy but it sure does!!
