How a Married Design Duo Brought a “Dead” House Back to Life

Design duo Heather and Matt French of French & French Interiors are known for creating interiors that celebrate color, craftsmanship, and collected beauty. Their Santa Fe home featured in the latest issue of House Beautiful is a vibrant example of how traditional architecture can be layered with bold patterns, artisanal details, and deeply personal design choices.

The Entry

For the entry, the couple created a dramatic space reminiscent of an old library. The designer incorporated our Porter Solid Brass Ring Pull with Bossard 3.70" Backplate in Polished Brass, which provides a striking contrast against the rich red lacquered cabinetry. The warm brass finish adds a refined layer of detail while reinforcing the room’s moody, collected atmosphere.

In the kitchen, the designers opted for a space that feels both functional and charming, balancing everyday practicality with thoughtful design details. To complement the cabinetry, Heather selected our Cosmos Appliance Pull, Cosmos Bar Pull, and Cosmos Knob in Polished Brass, whose warm finish brings subtle elegance and cohesion to the room.

In the primary suite and adjacent bathroom, the designer created a layered, thoughtfully detailed look using Modern Matter hardware. On the custom closets flanking the bed, she selected our Florence Wood Pull in Burnished Brass from the Pierce & Ward Collection, adding warmth and texture while complementing the bespoke millwork.

In the primary bathroom, the vanity is finished with our Eleanor Cup Pull, also from the Pierce & Ward Collection, in Unlacquered Brass. This living finish develops a natural patina over time, bringing timeless character and depth to the space.
