Amanda George has had a passion for interior design all her life. While serving in the Air Force Reserves, Amanda decided to pursue her bachelor's in interior design. Her firm is dedicated to bringing beauty and comfort to any home with her holistic approach to design.
A: My design career began after I served in the Air Force, which inspired me to get a degree in Interior Design. During school, I participated in the design club, experimented with staging, and worked at a luxury kitchen and bath showroom, which helped me discover my real passion for kitchen and bath design.
A: Growing up, I was fortunate to have lived in and traveled to many different countries (my dad was an international airline pilot and my mom is Swedish). Each place we lived in taught me the importance of vernacular design, which is carried through in all my present-day projects. My love for travel continues, and I am always searching for artisanal and interesting pieces that help tell the story of a home.
A: Combining beauty with function is the ultimate goal! These two always seem to grapple with each other, but if I allow form to follow function during my design process, the resulting design exemplifies "Livable Luxury" and a harmony of beauty and function. Â
A: Hardware to me is the jewelry of a design. It's the finishing touch that can make a simple dress elegant. The hardware should elevate the design. Much like the perfect necklace can make a simple dress elegant, the perfect hardware can elevate a space from lovely to luxury.
A: I live in the Pacific North West, and there is so much around to draw inspiration from. Whether it's in nature or the city, there is a ton to be inspired by. Getting out and exploring really recharges the soul and allows creativity to flow. My love for travel, also brings new inspiration through a variety of cultural influences and distinctive lifestyles to my designs.Â
A: No clocks!.....just kidding. Honor the space, don't over power it. To be timeless, a design must blend seamlessly with the rest of the environment to feel like it always was.Â
