The collection celebrates the details that shape a room,  transforming hardware into an expressive element of the interior. Sculptural silhouettes, refined materials, and thoughtfully coordinated finishes create a cohesive language across cabinetry and windows, while offering designers the freedom to compose a look that feels entirely their own. Timeless in spirit and rich in character, each piece is crafted to endure and designed to bring beauty, personality, and a sense of considered luxury to the home.

Discover the Faces & Story Behind the Design

Schumacher x Modern Matter brings together two design houses with a shared instinct for distinctive, enduring design. Modern Matter translates Schumacher’s iconic decorative language into jewelry for the home, bringing a new level of artistry and intention to cabinet and drapery hardware.

Bold restraint

Sculptural formBold restraint

Drawing inspiration from American silversmith and jeweler William Spratling, the collection channels his sculptural sensibility through bold forms, architectural clarity, and a restrained decorative language. Substantial profiles and tactile weight lend each piece a sense of permanence, while finely resolved details introduce depth, character, and quiet refinement.

A study in form and texture

Material MattersA study in form and texture

Materiality plays a defining role throughout the collection. Solid brass takes on a refined range of expressions, from the warmth of Burnished and Unlacquered Brass to the polish of Polished Brass and the subtle depth of Antique Nickel, developed exclusively for the collaboration. Translucent Lucite and natural wood add another layer of contrast, bringing lightness, texture, and tactile richness to the collection.

Room to Room

One Point of ViewRoom to Room

Designed to move fluidly from cabinetry to windows, the collection creates a cohesive visual language throughout the room. Sculptural silhouettes, splendid finishes, and contrasting materials can be mixed and layered to create expressions that feel tailored, decorative, or somewhere in between, giving each interior its own distinct point of view.

"At Schumacher, we understand the past, but we always look to the future. The pieces we created with Modern Matter feel very of the moment while still feeling classic."
