Modern Matter Blog

Our team recently showed at the WestEdge Design Fair in sunny Los Angeles. On the heels of their West Coast road trip, Sharon Quinn from our Sales Team gave us a recap on the trends she saw and fresh styles she loved.
Q: You recently got back from showing Modern Matters’ new hardware and bath collections at WestEdge. Can you share a little bit about the show?
A: Absolutely—the energy at the show was electric. Attendees were buzzing from the Thursday night launch event through Saturday afternoon. This was our brand’s first year at the show, and it was clear that WestEdge’s exhibitors centered around cutting-edge, artisanal design. So, we fit right in.
There was no shortage of creativity in product, booth displays, style (the fashion was truly unparalleled!), and passion for beautiful home accents. Lots of design lovers came to our booth, many of whom hadn’t seen our products before. Their reactions to our luxury, decorative hardware were incredible to experience firsthand—it was as if they had found exactly what they had been looking for, but didn’t know existed.

Q: What was the Modern Matter star product of the show?
A: Everyone—I mean really, almost everyone—picked up our Dogwood Custom Knob and immediately placed it in between their fingers, styling it as a ring. This was always followed by a quick wink and a nudge to the partner in tow, dropping a not-so-subtle hint about exactly what type of jewelry they wanted for the holidays. It reinforced the story behind how our brand began—launching as a jewelry line that eventually evolved into a jewelry brand for your home.
Q: Makes sense to me—I want a ring like the Dogwood Knob, too! What else did everyone gravitate towards?
A: There was a strong love for our Bamboo Collection, and we had a loose sample of the pull in our booth. Visitors could pick it up and feel the weight of that style, which speaks for itself in terms of durability and luxury. That thing is heavy! We also saw a serious malachite obsession. That gemstone consistently drew people into our booth because it’s such a gorgeous statement piece.

Q: And how did everyone react to seeing our new Bath Collection?
A: Introducing our Bath Collection that launched this year was—again—very rewarding. The reception was fantastic, with lots of commentary on how novel and stunning the towel rings, towel bars, robe hooks, and toilet paper holders are. Plus, everyone loved our versatility. The ability to mix and match backplates across our collections is a unique feature of our brand, giving you the creative freedom to make any decorative home moment truly yours. I chatted with several designers who stopped by to explore our products and ended up sharing that they were looking for new bathroom hardware for a personal renovation they’re undertaking, which I loved to hear!
Q: What trends did you see at the show?
A: This was a highly innovative space. Everything, from bright, bold artwork made from refurbished materials and rattan light fixtures featuring neon lining, to classic stone slabs and sweet, patterned wallpapers, was on display. What I can tell you about hardware is that living finishes are in. Burnished brass and unlacquered brass are at the top of designers' requests, and visitors were delighted to see that we offered a wide range of styles in these finishes.
While hints of minimalist interiors were showcased in a handful of booths, it’s clear that WestEdge was leaning into a celebration of individuality and how that translates into homes. From mixing hard and soft lines and moody lighting to romantic accents and pops of color, thoughtfully designed, unique spaces never go out of style.

Q: Where else will the team be showing in 2026?
A: We’re already making plans for KBIS 2026 and are very excited to meet more of our current (and new!) customers in Orlando, soon.
Welcome back
