A 1940's Cottage gets an Eclectic Makeover
Builder John Bourgeois, of Bourgeois McGinn, recently renovated this 1940s cottage for longtime friend Jane Caldwell. The feature, published in this month's Home Design and Decor Magazine, gives us a look inside this well-traveled and wonderfully eclectic home.
The OLIVER Hardware
Jane painted her living room bookcase with Benjamin Moore Rattan paint color. She centered the hardware on the cabinet doors. The hardware combination she chose was the OLIVER knob in patina and amazonite. Silk tassels collected from her travels add a personalized touch.Â
““I wanted to modernize the home, and I wanted it to be fun." says Caldwell.
The Aztec Hardware
Jane converted a downstairs closet into a functioning working space. Pierre Frey wallpaper covers the new office, as well as art she has collected. The addition of double doors gives visual interest to the room. Hardware chosen for the doors are the AZTEC knobs in black on the exterior.
Details Matter
Other hardware included is the BENSON knob in solid brass, used on the interior side of the double doors. This "dummy" knob allows a custom hardware look without having to use the traditional door hardware.
