Carla Fonts, founder of Dunbar Road Design, draws inspiration from her prestigious Cuban heritage. Raised in Palm Beach after her family's exile, she inherited a taste for luxury and detail. The grandeur of her grandmother's rented home on Dunbar Road profoundly influences Fonts' design sensibilities, shaping the brand's unique aesthetic.
Q: How did Dunbar Road get its start?
A: Dunbar Road started in 2016 after years of helping friends and family with their homes. Thanks to my Cuban heritage, interiors have always captivated me. Growing up, I was always exposed to unique styles and beautiful spaces.

Q: What inspires your design process?
A: Listening to my clients' life experiences inspires me a lot. I am also inspired by the space itself, based on the elements around it, such as natural sunlight. I combine the client's and my own taste and elevate it.
Q: What's your favorite detail to add to a space?
A: The smallest details matter to us. From lampshade trim to pillow cording to unexpected but brilliant hardware, we consider details on every level!

A: Allowing functionality and beauty to exist as a happy couple.
Q: How do you think of hardware when designing a space?
A: Hardware is the jewelry of the whole outfit, so I like to make sure it compliments the overall style. It can bring a piece to life and change the whole demeanor.
Q: What trends or styles, if any, are you into right now?
A: Using plaster––in trim on ceilings, built-in case goods, and fireplaces. I can make my imagination come to life through the design with the help of wonderful vendors.
Q: How do you keep your creative spirit fulfilled?
A: Traveling, staying up to date with new publications, and by researching new & inventive
designs.
