Hallie Henley Design is a Houston, Texas based interior design firm committed to creating timeless, sophisticated and comfortable interiors that are reflective of the individuals who inhabit them. Owner Hallie Henley Sims leverages multiple years of experience in the hospitality and high-end residential design fields to create spaces that are fresh, tailored and eminently chic.
Q: How did working in the hospitality field influence or inform your residential design?
A: The commonality in designing boutique hotels and personal residences is to create spaces that can function for both large entertaining gatherings as well as intimate family moments. When you've designed a space that can do both, you are firing on all cylinders!
Q: Your interiors are so chic, yet kid friendly! Any tips for designing with young kids or pets in mind?
I always tell clients to not wait until their kids are grown to invest in high quality furniture and fabrics. Now is the time! Our firm always uses performance fabrics on high traffic upholstery pieces, we will laminate fabrics that are used in the kitchen on counter stools and breakfast chairs, and we pick rugs such as seagrass and oushaks that handle spills with ease.

Q: Is there a trend or design decision you're loving that you think is here to stay?
This has never been a trend for our firm, but I know the supply chain issues our industry is facing is pushing people to consider more antique and vintage pieces in their work, and we are here for it! Layered and collected is always key!
Q: What is your favorite gemstone and/or metal/finish?
That's easy! My children's birthstones: amethyst, diamond and emerald! And I love using unlacquered brass in my interiors and the fabulous patina it develops!
