Since 2004 Stephanie Stroud Interiors has been designing inspiring spaces in the Kansas City Metro and around the country. Specializing in blending classic design with current styles, she provides clients with timeless spaces that are both beautiful and functional. The goal at the end of every project is for their clients to love where they live.
A: I was fortunate to live abroad growing up. It exposed me to so many beautiful places and helped me learn to appreciate things with age and history. My mom also put a lot of love and effort into our home, which taught me how impactful your surroundings can be. I also love all things fashion, and watching the interior design and fashion trends blend together each season is always inspiring.

A: Our design process starts with really listening to our clients, understanding their lifestyles and how they live. Then we are able to deliver both a functional and beautiful space that makes everyone happy. In addition, it is important to us that each space we create is unique and is a reflection of those that live there. We love color and pattern and incorporating from the homeowner that is unexpected or has special meaning.
A: Hardware is as important right now as lighting. Because there are so many choices out there, you can really make a statement and set a tone through your hardware selections. We are using unlacquered brass, living metals and natural stone elements in all of our designs to add luxury and warmth.
A: I love that arches and curves are back, and I am happy to see gray go! Woven and natural materials also make me happy and are a great way to add texture to a space. But my favorite “trend” is something we have been doing since our inception, adding antique and vintage elements into the design mix. My motto has always been “classic and current.” There is no reason to buy all new and leave your home feeling like a catalog. Blending old and new gives your home a lived-in and collected feel that will outlive the trends.
A: Kansas City has some incredible talent, and we are working hard on building a strong designer community. Working with others in the trade, and especially my team, helps motivate and inspire me daily. Of course, like everyone else, I am also often on social media, being inspired by others who design or just those with a creative outlook on life.
