Modern Matter Hardware Shines on Magnolia Network's Bargain Mansions
In a perfect blend of functional elegance and organic charm, Modern Matter Hardware takes the spotlight on the recent episode of Magnolia Network's hit show, Bargain Mansions. Tamara Day renovates her sister's kitchen into a bright, airy space to create an oasis for the family to come together daily. Drawing inspiration from the property's beautiful surroundings, Day brings nature-inspired elements to give this space new life.
A: For this project, I had tons of insight into the client, as she happens to be my sister! Knowing her desire for a serene and peaceful yet unique ambiance, we incorporated a palette of natural colors as the foundation. We were able to add touches of elegance through the hardware accents.

A: The main challenge we encountered with the space was dealing with the original, tiny, cramped, and poorly functioning kitchen layout. Our primary goal was to completely transform the kitchen's direction and establish a more open concept to enhance the overall feeling of the space. We aimed to create a cohesive design that seamlessly connects the indoor and the fabulous backyard space.
A: My favorite aspect of the kitchen is the waterfall countertop design and the beautiful framing of the cabinetry. The choice of soft, neutral tones for the countertop on the cabinets enhances the overall appeal, allowing the hardware to stand out even more.
A: I went with the Bamboo Pulls because it has the nod to nature we sought in the kitchen; they tied every element together. I wanted to mix different textures and shapes to give it more of a collected feeling I love, so I mixed in the Alexandria Knobs and Washington Drop Pull.
A: Given the kitchen's size and number of cabinets, I wanted to avoid uniformity in design and opted for a mix-and-match approach. At the same time, maintaining functionality as a top priority. This allowed us to have the perfect balance between unique aesthetics and practicality.
A: One of the big mistakes people make is thinking they must have all the same hardware throughout a space. Mixing it up makes it feel interesting and collected—it's much more fun.
A: When redoing your kitchen, remember that design is in the details, and hardware plays a crucial role. It's like jewelry for your cabinetry, adding sparkle and quality to your daily interactions. Prioritize investing in quality pieces. They can elevate the entire kitchen design even if you're on a budget.
