The Sherwood Forest Letter Opener features burnished brass adorned with beautifully carved organic leafy shapes and an “Open Your Heart” message on the handle. Esteemed artist and designer Doug Meyer drew inspiration from his love for the natural world, stating, “When brass oxidizes over time, it develops a magical, earthy, vibrant green color that resembles chalk. This natural transformation, combined with my passion for nature, inspired me to create these carved organic shapes on a substrate of burnished brass for the Sherwood Forest collection.”

Burnished Brass finish is hand-applied by our amazing artisans. There may be natural variations in the finish which makes each piece charming and unique, and are not product defects. Such variations are inherent in the manufacturing of handmade products. Like a family heirloom, each Modern Matter product is filled with love, care, and careful thought. 

The most preferred way to take care of hardware is to regularly dust the product with a soft cloth. If needed, we advise that all our products are cleaned with slightly damp soft cloth and mild soap. Once it is cleaned, then wipe with a clean damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Please use non-abrasive lint-free or microfiber cloth that won't scratch the surface. Designs with gemstone and lucite can also be cleaned with slightly damp cloth and mild soapy water.
